Choose one beach or park, one inland stop and somewhere to eat. These are alternatives across South Maui, not a ten-stop day. Check county closures and ocean conditions before leaving.

Kalama Park

Start with a shoreline park visit in central Kīhei. Leave space in the afternoon for the park itself instead of treating every stop as a photo checkpoint.

Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale Sanctuary Visitor Center

Make time for the marine exhibits and interactive displays at NOAA's beachfront visitor center. It gives the coast context even when no whales are visible.

Keālia Coastal Boardwalk

Follow the designated boardwalk beside coastal wetland habitat. Bring binoculars and give the birds space; this is a viewing stop, not an invitation to enter the refuge's wetlands.

South Maui Gardens

Put the garden and food-truck courtyard in the same visit. The nursery entrance and the Kīhei Food Oasis entrance serve one destination, so there is no need to add both as separate driving stops.

The Cove

Use this small coastal stop as a companion to Kalama Park, not an extra cross-island journey. Watching the water from shore is a complete visit in itself.

Ulua–Mōkapu Beach Parks

Choose this paired beach access for a Wailea shoreline stop. The county lists parking, restrooms and showers, making it a practical place to plan a beach visit around.

Wailea Beach

Spend time on the public shoreline between the resorts. Keep hotel facilities and public beach access distinct, and follow the signed public route.

Polo Beach Park

Polo offers another Wailea beach option with a small park and picnic tables. Pick this or a nearby beach if you want more time outside the car.

Mākena State Park

The broad sand and Puʻu Ōlaʻi backdrop make Mākena a distinct landscape stop south of Wailea. Enjoy the shore without assuming that inviting-looking water is safe to enter.
